In addition to David Myers' activities with Myers Tree Care, he is a keen competitor in the arts of Pole Climbing & Tree Climbing. He was champion in the novice category in both the European & Welsh Pole Climbing Championships in 1998 and also competed in the 1999 Australasian Pole Climbing Championships at the Royal Auckland Show in New Zealand.

He is a former and present North West champion tree climber, a competition involving 5 disciplines at which he regularly competes all over the UK. A network of contractors, nationwide, get together at these competitions to socialise and exchange ideas with the aim of improving techniques and promoting the image of the industry.

Installing the lights for the Millennium celebrations in EdinburghDave's interests began   when he attended a course at Myerscough College in Preston in 1990. After successfully completing his first year he left to gain experience working for a number of contractors nationwide. Returning in 1993 he completed the course and in 1996 passed with a distinction, was named Best Practical Student and became an instructor in Arboriculture at the college. Myers Tree Care  was formed in 1997 with a business aim of "Quality not Quantity"

Each year Dave can be seen demonstrating his craft at the Romiley Show in Cheshire where he rigs up poles to enable visitors to the event to try their hand at climbing.
